re: metallic taste in mouth from Oil of Oregano by: Kevin
I've been using a variety of different brands of Oil of Oregano for years and have never experienced this side effect. However, this doesn't mean your condition isn't caused by the Oil of Oregano. Everyone is different and may experience different reactions to different products.
The questions that need to be asked is what kind of Oil of Oregano you're using, how much you're using and if you have any underlying medical conditions.
Could you try using a different brand of Oil of Oregano to see if the condition persists? What happens if you take Oil of Oregano with or without food; is the metallic taste still there? There are a variety of things you could do to help you determine the cause.
The most important fact to remember is that experiencing a metallic taste in the mouth is a common symptom of many different conditions.
One of the most common causes for a metallic taste in the mouth is dental diseases or poor oral hygiene. Infections such as gum disease, gingivitis and tooth abscess can all produce a metallic taste in the mouth.
Tooth fillings made from silver or mercury may produce a metallic taste in the mouth; especially if they're reacting to other substances. If you have fillings in your teeth, there's a possibility of a reaction between the Oil of Oregano and the substances in your fillings.
Gastric reflux can also produce a metallic taste in the mouth. If you're swallowing the Oil of Oregano there's a possibility you're experiencing some mild reflux from the oil causing a metallic taste to appear in your mouth.
If you're taking any medications, there's also the possibility the Oil of Oregano is reacting with the medications.
If you discontinue taking Oil of Oregano and you still experience the metallic taste in your mouth it's recommended you contact your health care provider or Doctor to investigate this further.
Good luck and I hope this information is helpful.

Metallic taste is cuased by bacteria by: Anonymous
When I've had strep throat in the past it was accompanied by a metallic taste. I don't think this is a side affect of the oil of oregano.
