This is one of first healthy oils I added to my diet over 20 years ago. I think it's an excellent source of healthy fats and I love to mix it into my protein shakes and fruit smoothies.
The omega 3 fatty acids in flaxseed oil help produce healthy cellular membranes, hormones and anti-inflammatory chemicals.
Many health conscious people use flaxseed oil as a plant-based source of omega 3 fatty acids. This may be particularly important to pregnant mothers that wish to supplement their diets with omega 3 fatty acids, but want to limit possible exposure to mercury that may be found in some fish oils.
