Tea tree oil worked on head lice! Paul Mtchell..

by Amber
(Memphis, Tn, USA)

My daughter, my mom & Dad live in a pretty small home. We discovered she had lice & probably for awhile. We used tea tree oil & Almond Oil(the vitamin E is also good for keeping your hair healthy) to shampoo and they died! I picked so many Nits that were dead. Considering we tried those pesky pesticides. We also took a spray bottle, added 8 oz of water and 20 drops of tea tree oil. I sprayed our couches, chairs, pillows, bedding, even our floors. Also, drop some tea tree oil on your brushes & combs to keep them at bay. Paul Mitchell also has a special tea tree shampoo and conditioner that contains Tea Tree Oil, Peppermint Oil, Rosemary, and Lavender Oil. All ingriedents, except Lavender, are also good for smothering & killing lice. Putting rosemary under your pillow will even kill them! It's not that costly either. Add tea tree, almond oil to it! Makes a great and invigorating shampoo and it's much better than putting pesticides in your hair. Hope I could help.

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Oil Shampoo

by Karessa

I went to Cosmetology and got used to Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo, but now I use the Nexxus brand - its just cheaper at Sallys. My whole life it seems like if people mention lice I was going to get them that one.

When my oldest child was four years old she got head lice. I originally used Ovide lotion which worked for us.

Since using Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo I haven't gotten head lice. Both of my girls have had head lice so they now use it. We have remained a lice-free home for over a year.

Reply: Hi Karessa - thanks for sharing your experience with Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo and head lice.

Ovide lotion can effectively kill lice and their eggs. Unfortunately it contains malathion, a pesticide which can cause irritation to the skin and scalp; it's also flammable due to the alcohol content.

Tea tree oil has been found to be an effective, natural and safer alternative to using these powerful pesticides for treating head lice in children and adults.

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree ShampooShampoos) is a very popular shampoo. It contains tea tree oil, peppermint and lavender. They claim the tea tree oil helps leave hair cleaner while adding luster. It's a popular shampoo and has received a lot of good reviews at Amazon.com. ~ Kevin

Tea Tree Oil vs Head Lice

by Anna
(Lewiston, Idaho)

I am a licensed Cosmetologist I recommend all kids get Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Shampoo to prevent head lice always. I found a few nits or lice eggs in my baby son which is 6 months old. I wasn't going to use a pesticide on him. So I referred back to Tea Tree Oil. I mix a 1/4 cup of Olive oil & 8 drops of Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Oil rubbed it through my baby's hair. Let it sit for 30 minutes then pick through and comb his hair. I will then use the shampoo as well a least two or three times during the week to keep the lice away and re-infestation. I am very satisfied by this product and would recommend it as a professional hairdresser.
