Coconut Oil for Braids and Dreadlocks
by: Anonymous

Natasha, thanks for an excellent contribution to the forum.

I guess with hair in dreadlocks, keeping your hair moisturized is very important for maintaining healthy hair.

I think dreadlocks look so cool. Wish I could do that with my hair, but I'm stuck with poker-straight black hair.

Kevin :-)

Will coconut oil harm my hair?
by: Fabulous

I just colored my hair blonde. I was looking for a moisturizer after reading your forum and I ran to Vitamin Shoppe and purchased some virgin coconut oil. Tell me this, will it harm your hair if I leave it in and not rinse it out?

Thanks
Fab

re: Will coconut oil harm my hair?

Hi Fab, Congratulations on introducing virgin coconut oil into your life! I've found this healthy oil is completely harmless on hair. In fact, I believe it makes hair more softer, stronger, and healthier-looking. For best results, read my instructions for using coconut oil on hair for the best results. Remember to use only a small amount at first to determine how fast your hair absorbs the oil. I hope it works out for you. Please come back and share your experience with us on the forum - would love to hear your results!

Help with rinsing coconut oil from hair
by: margarita

I have already bought virgin coconut oil after reading all your comments about it. I like it very much but the only problem I see is that I have to use warm water to rinse very well and this is bad for my hair. I always wash my hair with cold water. Can you help me in this, maybe I can make another thing or I can use after a shampoo? I am Mexican and I love to see your page, I am in cosmetology. Thank you for everything. ~ Margarita

locks
by: Anonymous

hey kevin, doesn't matter if your hair is straight you can have locks any way, i got straight hair and have natural dreads just if you do it naturally is gone take more time than if you have curly or other kind or hair i let my hair grow for a year and then start just washing my hair but not brushing and i been doing that for 6 month and i already have all my hair with locks of course still some loose hair but that's gone by ok with the time.

Bleaching and coconut oil
by: delgado

Hi, I have bleached my dreads many times in the past 3 years. I am considering doing it again and was wondering should I use it before or after bleaching?

Reply:Coconut oil has been found reduce protein loss in hair. With this in mind, you could try using coconut oil before and after your bleaching treatment to minimize the possibility of protein loss.
