I have a 10 year old autistic child who still sucks his thumb. Is this oil "potent" enough by taste to help stop this habit? Would there be any side effects and has this oil ever been used for this purpose?

Using Oil of Oregano to Stop Thumb Sucking
Using Oil of Oregano to Stop Thumb Sucking by: Kevin
Please don't use Oil of Oregano to stop your child from thumb sucking.
There's a possibility the child may stick their thumb near their eyes. Oil of Oregano should not be used near the eye region. It can cause a very serious burning sensation.
There's also the possibility the child may burn their mucous membranes from ingesting too much Oil of Oregano.
I can't stress enough how dangerous this is and I don't recommend anyone use Oil of Oregano this way.
If you're concerned that thumb sucking may affect the growth of your child's teeth, you could contact your dentist for suggestions.

Stopping Thumb Sucking by: Anonymous
My son sucked his thumb when falling asleep at that age as well, and I wasn't overly concerned. He stopped on his own. Why worry about that? Although this oil is wonderful for a variety of ailments, I wouldn't want to use it for this purpose. Also, it could numb the tongue - Not necessary, is my opinion!
