Use Colloidal Silver on Open Wounds
by: Carol

For open wounds with diabetics use colloidal silver on the wound and it should make it close up before too long, is what I've heard. Another thing a diabetic can use on an open wound is plain sugar. Make a little circular border around the wound with a strip of cloth and fasten it together at the ends somehow. Then pour sugar in the center which is the wound area. Tape the whole thing over with I guess adhesive tape and change the whole dressing every time you bathe or shower. I've heard it really works.

Possibly yes, with good results

My 90 year-old mother's doctor, a geriatric specialist with over 30 years experience, highly recommends Oil of Oregano for several uses, including open wound care and diverticulitis.

Presently, my mother has an open bedsore. The treatment includes putting Oil of Oregano on the packing cloth, which means, the Oil of Oregano ends up right on and in the wound.

Oil of Oregano was also used on a bad burn from spilling coffee (2 inch diameter) on her leg about a year ago. Apparently, it is a natural antiseptic; thus, it prevents some bacterial infections.

My mother's previous wound care nurse was a fan of Oil of Oregano, as was a 60+ year nurse at a nursing home I visited.

Her new wound care nurse has never heard of Oil of Oregano as a treatment, and just referred to it as "Voodoo medicine". This one is preferring an alginate dressing with an antibiotic. The alginate dressing is derived from brown seaweed, according to some website. I don't know who is practicing voodoo, but I have seen no negative effects from Oil of Oregano taken orally or several drops applied to an open wound.

Buy it as pure as possible from Whole Foods, Sunflower Market or a similar herbal remedy supply. I think the last small bottle cost about $25.

Open Wounds

I have used it on open wounds including staph. It works very well. Just put some in the cap from the bottle. Pour it on the band aid or bandage dressing. Cover the wound and I always pour the remainder of the capful from the side of the bandage (pulled open), trapping the oil and letting is soak the wound even more. I tried manuka honey on these bad wounds and it didn't work near as well as this method with the oregano oil. And believe me, you become a pro at this if you have recurring staph.
