Using Oil of Oregano on Acne

Is Oil of Oregano good for fighting acne? If do, What should be the dosage and how to use?

Reply: Acne can be caused by inflammation of the oil gland, excessive oil gland secretion, hormones, bacteria and clogged pores.

Oil of Oregano has been shown to have anti-bacterial properties resulting in many uses of oregano oil. If acne is caused by a bacterial source, there is a possibility one could use Oil of Oregano to reduce the levels of bacteria.

However, Oil of Oregano does have a fairly strong smell and many people may not wish to have the smell lingering on their skin when using this natural oil.

You could try taking Oil of Oregano internally by placing a few drops under the tongue and letting it dissolve or by using Oil of Oregano that comes in capsule form. However, you should know there are no published studies on using Oil of Oregano and acne.

I've had success using tea tree oil on mild acne. I would place a drop of tea tree oil on a Q-tip and apply it to the blemish. I found the tea tree oil reduced the redness and the pimple appeared to shrink faster.

If your acne is severe and not responding to over-the-counter medications, I would recommend seeing a doctor or dermatologist for more appropriate treatment.

Good luck and I hope this information is helpful.
