Using Fish Oil for Hip Displaysia ?

by Ms Leigh Wilson

At 76 years of age I use fish oil (8 capsules daily)- Could I give my eleven year old Bordeaux fish oil to ease the pain of her hip dysplasia and would it hurt her to give it to her anyway?

re: Using Fish Oils for Hip Dysplasia in Dogs
by: Kevin

The omega 3 fatty acids in fish oils may have an anti-inflammatory effect in certain joint conditions. Some studies show that fish oils may reduce symptoms seen in osteoarthritis patients.

Using fish oils for dogs may help reduce symptoms in hip dysplasia; if the dog has osteoarthritis from this condition. I would recommend consulting with a veterinarian to get a more qualified viewpoint.
