Is it safe to give Oil of Oregano to children, and if it is, what is a correct oregano oil dosage for kids?
Oil of Oregano contains carvacrol and thymol; two ingredients found to exhibit anti-microbial properties against a number of bacteria, including Listeria monocytogenes, E. Coli and Salmonella.

Oil of Oregano has grown in use due to its use as a natural antiseptic, as well ingredients shown to have antihistamine and anti-oxidant properties.
The primary concern for many parents is if it's safe to give Oil of Oregano to kids and what are safe dosages for administering oregano oil?

Oil of Oregano has been considered safe to give to children, however, there are some factors to consider such:
possible allergic reactions
the strong spicy flavor of the oil which may give a burning sensation
determining a safe and effective Oil of Oregano dosage for children
- To avoid possible allergic reactions, do not give Oil of Oregano to your child if they have a history of allergies to oregano, thyme or any other spices belonging to the same family tree as oregano.
- Oregano oil has a very strong spicy flavor and some children may not be able to tolerate it. You may have to use soft gel capsules or mixing a couple of drops of oil in a glass of milk or orange juice. Please follow the suggested dosage recommendations below for administering Oil of Oregano to children.

The following recommendations are summarized from information received from a number of Oil of Oregano manufacturers and ingredient labels on Oil of Oregano supplements.
Oil of Oregano for children 5 - 10 years old:
- Use 1 drop, 1 - 3 times per day mixed in juice or milk.
Oil of Oregano for Children 10 years old and older:
- Use 3 drops, three times per day in juice or milk.
Oil of Oregano for Children under 5 years old:
- Manufacturers suggest avoid giving Oil of Oregano internally (by mouth) to children under 5 years of age.
- Oil of Oregano may be applied externally to the soles of feet and spine of childen under 5 years of age. Dilute 1 part Oil of Oregano and 4 parts olive oil and apply externally to recommended areas only.
- Avoid getting any Oil of Oregano in eyes, mouth, mucous membranes and genital region.
ATTENTION: Manufacturers recommend you do not exceed 7 - 10 days of administering Oil of Oregano to children. After seven days of use, please discontinuing using Oil of Oregano on your children. If the condition has not improved, it's recommended you consult with your family doctor immediately.
