My daughter got head lice while at a sleep over. The tea tree and olive oil combined with a superior nit/lice comb (Nit Removal Terminator) worked like a miracle! We tried Rid and the cheap plastic comb they included - what a waste. The key is physical removal, laundry and thorough vacuuming. Everyday that eggs/lice are found, the bed sheets must be laundered again with hot water and dryer. Stay calm. This treatment will work. Also, please share this information with parents of children that may have had close contact with your child - especially a sleepover. Had the host parents told us that their daughter had lice, we wouldn't have had a full on infestation. They told us that a girl my daughter didn't know very well had the lice. Since my daughter didn't socialize with her very much and didn't sleep near her, I thought the odds were unlikely that she'd get lice. Lice do not jump or fly. The eggs and lice were present in this child's bedroom where all the girls slept. Taking home clothing, pillow, blanket that may have strands of hair with nits can cause an infestation. The nits hatch and find a human host and they thrive. From now on, everything that comes home from a sleepover will get a preventative washing treatment including my daughter's head..... :) Note: none of our family members had lice despite sharing a home, towels and a brush. My daughter even jumped in my bed for stories. Its a miracle, but just illustrates that you don't get lice by standing near someone. You must have super close contact - sharing a hat, clothes, sleep over situation. Good Luck
