Some people put coconut oil on their hair but do not wash it. Consequently, the coconut starts to smell bad - rancid like, especially in hot climate places. Additionally, the daily application of oil - as small as the amount may be - with out washing it accumulates and can make the hair become greasy, attracting dust and dirt.

Reply: I think it would be a good idea to rinse coconut oil out of the hair. This may help prevent build-up on the hair shaft which can weigh down the hair leaving it flat and limp; the exact opposite of what you may be trying to remedy with coconut oil.
