Adding Scents to Coconut Oil for Hair use

Since coconut oil does not really have a good scent, is there anyway for me to add scents to the oil for deep conditioning treatments? Somebody told me of essential oils as an option, but I don't really know anything about them. Any suggestions is appreciated.
