Neptune Krill Oil and
Skin Cancer

Research on Neptune Krill Oil and skin cancer shows this marine oil may reduce your risk of skin cancer by almost 50%.

Nothing feels better than the warm rays of the sun beaming down on you. I live in the Canadian prairies and we get lots of sunshine during our cold windy winters and hot dry summers. Although the sun does give us lots of Vitamin D, there's always the concern of getting too much sun and the potential for skin cancer.

Did you know Neptune Krill Oil may protect you from getting skin cancer?

Scientists recently completed an animal study looking at the skin-protective powers of Neptune Krill Oil and its role in preventing skin cancer.

Effects of Neptune Krill Oil on UVB-Radiation Induced Skin Cancer Prevention

Ninety-six (96) mice were used in a trial testing the effects of Neptune Krill Oil (NKO) on UVB-radiation induced skin cancer.

The mice were divided into two groups that took either the NKO or a placebo. Each group was further divided into 3 groups that took the NKO or lacebo:

  1. orally
  2. topically
  3. combination of oral and topical

The daily oral dose given to the mice was equivalent to 2 grams of NKO per day for a 70 kg man or a 60 kg woman.

All the mice were exposed to UVB radiation for 30 minutes/day for 20 weeks. Their skin cells were then analyzed for any skin cell damage from the radiation.

Researchers discoverd a 50% reduction in incidence of skin cancer when krill oil was taken orally or applied topically. What's more interesting is skin protection was improved a further 67% when you combined both the oral krill oil and topical oil at the same time.

Comments:

While this was an animal study, the results are fairly promising. It appears that Neptune Krill Oil may reduce the incidence of skin cancer caused by exposure to UVB radiation. The results of this study on Neptune Krill Oil and skin cancer does look promising for its potential to protect you from getting UVB-induced skin cancer.

I love getting a sun tan and the benefits of vitamin D. Unfortunately, we all know excessive sun exposure may lead to premature wrinkles, age spots and advanced skin aging.

Although more research is needed, it's possible that taking Neptune Krill Oil may help reduce UVB damage to your skin. With this healthy oil in your corner, you may reduce your risk for skin cancer and have healthy glowing skin in your golden years.
